What the Frequent Absence Rule asks of you

Lance Haysom 1 min read

The RS7 funded hours report open in Oversite, listing enrolments that need reconfirming.

The rule is simple to state and easy to trip over. If a child is absent on the same enrolled day, or for fewer days or hours than their enrolment says, for three consecutive months, funding for that third month can only be claimed once the enrolment agreement has been reconfirmed with the family.

What counts as a month

A calendar month, not a funding period. The three do not have to be within the same RS7 return, which is why a service can be caught by it in the first month of a period without noticing.

What to do

Reconfirm the enrolment agreement with the family and record the date you did it. If the pattern is the new normal, change the enrolment rather than reconfirming the old one every quarter.
