Home-based, measured against Schedule 1A

Home-based services run to a different rulebook from centres, and software that treats them as a centre with fewer children gets the ratios wrong. Oversite applies whichever schedule your service is licensed under.

The right rules for the right service

Schedule 2 sets 1:5 for under-twos and 1:10 for over-twos in a centre. Home-based is measured against Schedule 1A instead. Which one applies is a property of the service, recorded once, and every ratio and capacity check reads it from there.

Educators, and the coordinator who visits them

The regulatory weight in home-based sits on the coordinator relationship: who is responsible for which educators, when they last made contact, and when they last visited. Those are tracked and reminded rather than kept in a diary.

Educators carry the same vetting and safety-check requirements as centre staff, with the same expiry tracking behind them.

Attendance, funding and paying educators

Funded hours have to be evidenced the same way whether the care happened in a centre or in someone's home, so the attendance trail behind an RS7 return works identically.

Educator payments are worked out from the hours already recorded, rather than from a separate return that has to agree with them.
